Code of Conduct

All attendees and volunteers at Edinburgh Jazz ‘n Jive Club (EJJC) events are required to agree with the following Code of Conduct. The EJJC committee will enforce this Code at all Friday night sessions and any events organised or hosted by EJJC. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe and pleasant environment.

Everyone is welcome

The EJJC is committed to providing a welcoming environment for everyone attending, whether listening, dancing, playing, or volunteering, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof).

Harassment will not be tolerated

Harassment includes offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Attendees asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the EJJC will take appropriate action, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed or have any other concerns, please get in touch with a Committee Member of the EJJC.

On the Dance Floor

Please, be respectful when asking someone to dance and understand that the answer could be no, which you should accept gracefully without further discussion.

Don’t force difficult dance moves or dance too close if your partner shows discomfort. If you feel uncomfortable with the connection with your dance partner, please ask them to change their behaviour. If your partner tells you the connection feels uncomfortable for them, be open to changing what you are doing so that you both feel comfortable.

Familiarise yourself with and observe The Dance Floor Etiquette.
